Brewster FFA would like to recognize several contests and activities our students have participated in over the past few months.
On January 31st, members of our Floriculture Team (Angel Rincon, Fred Angel, Jenifer Huerta, Engelver Ramirez, Magaly Rojas, Camila Orozco, and Kinberli Romero) competed at Wapato High School. The team performed well, with Jenifer Huerta earning 3rd place high individual. They later competed at Chelan High School on February 28th to prepare for state. Unfortunately, due to unsafe winter weather, they were unable to attend the State Contest on March 14th, but are motivated for next year.
On March 11th, five students competed and represented our chapter well in the FFA Sub-District Creed Contest: Maggie Gamble (3rd), Addy Boesel, Mac Gebbers (1st), Cristian Aviles (4th), and Jose Chavez (1st, Spanish Creed). Four students advanced to the District Contest.
At the District 7 Creed Contest on March 25th, Mac Gebbers and Cristian Aviles competed in the English Creed event and showed their growth, just missing qualification for state. Jose Chavez earned 1st place in Spanish Creed and will compete at the state contest in Pullman this May.
The FFA Meats Team (Kayla Sanchez, Alan Pacheco, Alivia Smith, Jesus Ramos, and Larizabeth Ruiz) competed in Moses Lake on March 21st at the NCW Junior Livestock Show, earning a 5th place team banner. Their improvement from last year was evident, and they will compete next at the Washington FFA State Convention in May.
Mr. Dezellem had students participate in 3 different shop contests. Results for the Chelan Shop contest: Alex Valdovinos (3rd), Christopher Talavera (3rd). Sam Arevalo (24th). Results for the Brewster Shop Contest: Alex Valdovinos (1st- Arc), Emanuel Zepeda (4th-Arc, 6th-cutting), David Torres (5th- Arc), Geovanny Valdovinos (6th-Arc), Sam Arevalo (10th- Arc). Judah Brown (6th-Oxyacetylene), Antonia Hernandez (7th- cutting).
In addition to competitions, members participated in several community and leadership activities, including a Valentine’s Day Bingo event at Harmony House, distributing flowers with kind notes as a random act of kindness, hosting the District 7 FFA Jamboree, and celebrating National FFA Week with daily chapter activities.
We are extremely proud of the time and effort our students have put in to all of these FFA activities!
