Brewster Schools: Winter Weather Communication & Expectations

Dear Brewster Families,

Winter has arrived in Brewster, and with it comes the possibility of snow, icy roads, and cold temperatures. As always, the safety of our students, families, and staff is our top priority. We want to ensure everyone knows how we will communicate school schedule changes and what to expect during the winter months.

How We Will Communicate School Closures and Delays

When winter weather affects road and travel conditions, we will promptly notify families using the following platforms:

  • Brewster Schools Website

  • District Facebook Page

  • ParentSquare

Please make sure your ParentSquare contact information is up to date so you receive alerts quickly.

Late Starts Due to Road Conditions

If road crews need additional time to clear sloppy or unsafe roads, Brewster Schools may run a late start schedule. When this happens, we will follow a schedule similar to our regular Late Start Monday, so bus arrival times will be close to what families are already familiar with on those days. This helps provide consistency and predictability for families while ensuring buses can travel safely.

Preparing Students for Winter Weather

Cold temperatures and wet conditions can move in quickly. We ask parents to help students come to school prepared each day by:

  • Dressing children in warm layers

  • Ensuring they wear coats, gloves, hats, and boots when needed

  • Sending extra clothing for younger students who may get wet during recess or transitions

Even when temperatures are cold, students may be outside briefly during drop-off, pick-up, or transitions, so proper winter clothing is essential.

Thank You for Your Partnership

We appreciate your cooperation and support in helping keep our students safe and ready for learning throughout the winter season. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school office.

Stay warm, stay safe, and thank you for being part of Brewster Schools.
