Brewster FFA students recently had the opportunity to attend the Washington FFA State Convention in Pullman, WA, and we are so proud of the way they represented our school and community. ❤️🎉
FFA is much more than farming. It is an intracurricular student organization connected to agricultural education that helps students build leadership, career skills, public speaking, teamwork, confidence, and real-world problem-solving skills.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Hemmer and Mr. Dezellem for the months of preparation, coaching, organizing, and encouragement that helped our students qualify for state. Since Mrs. Hemmer was on maternity leave, Mr. Johanson, Nurse Nicole, and Mrs. Cavadini stepped in as the three FFA State Convention newbies to help drive, organize, and chaperone with Mr. Dezellem. It is safe to say the three newbies together equal approximately one Mrs. Hemmer, and we now have an even deeper appreciation for both Mrs. Hemmer and Mr. Dezellem, who somehow make the organized chaos of State Convention look manageable.
Please join us in congratulating all of our Brewster FFA students who qualified for state and represented our chapter:
BBQ Team

Jennifer was only 12 points away from placing in the top 8, which is an incredible accomplishment.

The Food Science team placed 15th out of 57 teams in an extremely competitive event where only 8 teams place.

Meats Science
Alan Pacheco, Kayla Sanchez, Jesus Ramos, Alivia Smith
The Meats team earned 5th place overall at State.

Fernando represented Brewster FFA as a delegate during the official business of the State Convention and was selected to serve as District Vice President for next year. He will represent FFA chapters in our district from Oroville to Cashmere and everywhere in between.
Congratulations to all of our students and advisors. Qualifying for state is not something that happens by accident. It takes preparation, practice, resilience, and a lot of behind-the-scenes work.
We are proud of you, Brewster FFA! 🐻 ❤️
