September – Respectful
Respect is the act of treating others in a way that shows you care about their feelings and well-being. Being respectful means you act in a way that shows care for how your actions may impact others. We can show respect for people, places, and things. For example: Using kind or polite words even when you're upset. Using manners like sharing, waiting your turn, saying please and thank you.

I nominate Zoe Arellano for Bear of the Week. Zoe goes above and beyond to challenge herself with tough college-level classes. When you have free time, choose to work on tasks that are not yet delivered because you don't want the stress of finishing them. In class, Zoe helps her peers who are struggling, which shows compassion and respect for others. She is responsible for her own actions and when she finds herself in distress she talks to her teachers and seeks resources to overcome challenging obstacles. With her heavy class load, she still manages to keep sports on her agenda, such as volleyball and softball. Zoe represents a true Brewster Bear.
Joaquín has impressed me with his work ethic, not only his concentration in class but also his willingness to follow after school to ask questions and complete assignments. Her respectful attitude makes teaching enjoyable.

Last week Mr. Dezellem took several Brewster students to Tunk Valley for a practice range contest. They represented Brewster well!
Mrs. Hemmer and 4 students attended an FFA Land Evaluation (Soils) clinic and contest last week at the Tierra Learning Center in Leavenworth. The students learned about soil science, natural resources, and how to evaluate soil quality to maximize plant growth and health. Afterwards they enjoyed some German food on the way home.
This clinic/contest was in addition to Mr. Dezellem taking students to the FFA rangeland practice contest in Omak last week (see previous post).
Brewster FFA had a busy but educational and productive week!
Mrs. Blackburn presented the Friends of Children Award to the Brewster Police Department last Monday. The Brewster School District extends heartfelt appreciation to the Brewster Police Department for their unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the school community. The department's consistent availability during school activities and events has been instrumental in creating a secure environment for students, staff, and attendees. The officers' proactive approach, including their willingness to engage with school staff and students when needed, demonstrates a genuine dedication to fostering positive relationships within the community. Their presence has made a tangible difference in enhancing the overall safety and security of our school and has contributed significantly to the well-being of the Brewster community as a whole. The Brewster School District is grateful for the valuable partnership with the Brewster Police Department in promoting a safe and supportive educational environment.
Dylan Lopez-Lino nominated by Mrs. Mathews
Dylan works diligently to deliver everything on time. Keeps a positive attitude and works hard. When he smiles, he has a bright smile
Astrid Martinez-Cázares nominated by Mr. Heath
Astrid has been one of the hardest working students I've seen so far this year. In my classroom, I observed their dedication to learning and the pursuit of mastery. Astrid never gives up no matter how hard the job is, which is a perfect example for her peers and an inspiration for me as a teacher.
